“Guernica”

2012

Camino Viejo Oriolet, 1AC

Guernica is a collective painting coordinated by the curators of the 2012 edition, Pepe Rayos and Pepe Aledo. This piece is located in one of the most emblematic areas of the San Isidro district. It pays tribute to Pablo Picasso’s renowned Guernica picture, inspired by the bombings carried out by German aircraft during the Spanish Civil War on the Basque town with the same name. The painting is as touching a work as the verses that Miguel Hernández was writing at that time in his poem Euskadi, published in The Winds of the People Carry me, which came into existence in 1937.
