“No le atarás el alma” (You won’t tie his Soul)
2017
C/Previsión, 1A – AC
A mural designed and coordinated by painter and sculptor Fabiola Andreu, and produced by the members of Asociación Orihuela 2m10. The painting, in black and white tones, depicts the hard times suffered by Miguel Hernández in jail in Alicante, where he was confined until he died. The poet’s hands emerge from the darkness of the bars, holding some sheets of paper with the verses of the shocking poem Las cárceles, where he writes about the retention of his body and also of the freedom of his soul.
Cierra las puertas, echa la aldaba, carcelero.
Ata duro a ese hombre: no le atarás el alma.
Son muchas llaves, muchos cerrojos, injusticias:
no le atarás el alma.
