“Volad” (Fly)

Inspired by one of the short stories that Miguel Hernández wrote to his son, titled Un hogar en el árbol about a pigeon chick that wants to prove that it can fly, Isabel Aparicio recovers, in this mural, the spirit of those stories by Miguel with the scene of a child flying a paper plane in a wheat field where the author has included several lines of the fable.

Un día, el pájaro padre dijo:
–¡Venid, venid, venid, hijitos míos, pajarillos de mi corazón! Ahora ya podéis volar. ¡Volad, volad conmigo!
El pájaro madre también dijo:
–¡Volad, niñitos míos y del aire! ¡Volad, volad conmigo!
Y los cuatro pajarillos echaron a volar. Y el pájaro padre iba delante. Y el pájaro madre iba detrás.
